SIMCHECK II Entry Level RAM Checker

SIMCHECK II is our entry-level memory tester, supporting SDRAM, SIMM, EDO and FPM memory devices. While there is no DDR support in the SIMCHECK II line of equipment, any member of this product line can be factory converted to the full RAMCHECK level.

Using our enhanced proprietary algorithms, RAMCHECK runs a thorough test on today's DDR/SDRAM/EDO/FPM memory modules, testing every memory cell. All chips are tested simultaneously to yield a faster test and to enable the instrument to detect errors that are caused by interference among the chips on the module. RAMCHECK is not merely a go/no-go tester. In fact, it explicitly identifies the faulty bits within a defective module, giving specific pin number information relating to the problem chip. Since RAMCHECK is fully automatic and user friendly, anyone can use it with great ease. Its full graphics LCD display shows clear instructions and test results. It has a Zero Insertion/Removal Socket for 168-pin DIMM modules. Add-on adapters employ a similar high-quality socket for 144-pin DIMMs, or older style 30-pin and 72-pin SIMMs.

Pressing one button starts the fast BASIC test which automatically measures and displays the module size, Mode Type (SDRAM/EDO/FPM), Access Frequency (or Access Time/Cycle Time for non-SDRAM devices), Cycle Time measurement and more. The BASIC test checks for wiring and verifies that all memory cells are sound. The EXTENSIVE test automatically follows with Voltage Cycling and Voltage Bounce tests which verify the module performance under varying voltage conditions. The March Up/Down algorithm detects interference among cells. Various tests like Relative Refresh and Relative Spikes provide detailed insight into the quality of the tested module. Our proprietary Chip-Heat mode automatically warms the chips for temperature related speed measurement at the end of EXTENSIVE test. The AUTO-LOOP test provides the perfect burn-in means for your memory modules, as well as additional pattern testing.

RAMCHECK incorporates additional setup capabilities over our standard SIMCHECK II setups to satisfy the needs of even the most advanced and demanding engineers.

Just as you would expect, RAMCHECK can easily be upgraded and expanded to protect your investment. This goal was achieved using modern FLASH EPROM technology and a PC Windows companion program which allows you to download the firmware from this Internet website or from a distribution diskette. RAMCHECK comes with a built-in serial interface and is packaged with all you need for an easy connection to the PC.

RAMCHECK® DDR Test Adapter

The RAMCHECK DDR 184-Pin Adapter tests the next wave of memory technology, DDR SDRAM. It is the first adapter in our DDR SERIES, intended to test the popular 184-pin DDR modules. A 200-pin S.O. DIMM DDR converter is also available.

This adapter tests PC3200*/PC2700/2100/1600 (also known as DDR400*/333/266/200) modules, including Registered and Unbuffered DIMMs, complying with current JEDEC standards.

The RAMCHECK memory tester automatically detects the presence of the adapter indicating "RAMCHECK DDR SERIES" during power on. The module size, structure, and type are automatically detected, without the need for user's setup. Test flow of the DDR modules follows our standard Basic Test, Extensive Test, and Auto-Loop process. It is similar to the RAMCHECK test flow for SDRAM, so that there is no need for operator's special training.

RAMCHECK DDR ONLY is a combination of a modified RAMCHECK base tester and the new DDR 184-Pin Adapter. The RAMCHECK base tester has been modified so that it can be used ONLY to test the DDR modules.

The RAMCHECK DDR works with the new DDR 184-pin memory adapter and will support any planned member of our DDR Series, like the new 200-pin S.O. DIMM DDR adapter and the 66-pin TSOP DDR Chip Tester. It cannot support the RAMCHECK adapters for older SDRAM or EDO/FPM technologies, although a factory upgrade to the RAMCHECK PLUS level is available for those requiring SDRAM or EDO/FPM support at a later date.

The optional DIMMCHECK 168P PRO (p/n INN-8484-10) is a universal 168P DIMM adapter which tests most buffered and unbuffered 3.3V or 5V standard DRAM DIMMs. This adapter benefits most volume test requirements as it features a quality YAMAICHI test socket with easy insertion and removal.

It enables the SIMCHECK II or SIMCHECK PLUS ram tester to test 168-pin DIMM (84x2 pin Dual-Inline-Memory-Module) modules with basic configurations of 64, 72, and 80 bits. Based on JEDEC standard 21-C, the x72 DIMM can be wired as PARITY or ECC (Error Correction Code) types. The x80 DIMM comes ECC type only. The DIMM module has an internal architecture similar to the 72-pin SIMM module, but to achieve a wider bus, the number of -CASx control lines has been doubled from four (-CAS0,1,2,3) to eight (-CAS0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7). Also, two Write Enable control lines (-WE0 and -WE2) and two Output Enable (-OE0 and -OE2) have been added. This arrangement allows for one-bank (e.g. 1Mx72, 4Mx64, 16Mx80) or two-bank (e.g. 2Mx64, 8Mx72) embodiments. Special A0 and B0 address lines (for the first multiplexed address line) have been implemented within the DIMM 168 pin standard for optimized bank interleaving operation.

The DIMMCHECK 168P PRO is conveniently installed in the 90-pin expansion slot of SIMCHECK II or the 40-BIT PORT expansion slot, and is automatically recognized. All memory cells are fully tested.

144-P Small Outline DIMMs

The DIMMCHECK 144P PRO (p/n INN-8558-2) enables SIMCHECK II or SIMCHECK PLUS to test standard DRAM 144-pin SO DIMM (72x2 pin Small-Outline Dual-Inline-Memory-Module) modules with basic configurations of 64 and 72 bits. These modules are not available as 5V memory devices, therefore, the test is performed exclusively at 3.3V.

The DIMMCHECK 144P is conveniently installed in the 40-BIT expansion slot of SIMCHECK II, or SIMCHECK PLUS and is automatically recognized by either test system. All memory cells are fully tested, with a parallel write/read operation as our DIMMCHECK 168P PRO.

Memory check your 72-P Small Outline DIMMs

The DIMMCHECK 72P PRO (p/n INN-8558-3) enables SIMCHECK II to test 72-pin SO DIMM (36x2 pin Small-Outline Dual-Inline-Memory-Module) modules with basic configurations of 18, 32, and 36 bits. The test can be selected by the user at 5V or 3.3V.

The optional SIMCHECK II SOJ ADAPTER (INN-8558-5) is designed to be a universal tool for testing most 20-pin to 42-pin SOJ chips. This adapter readily supports 256Kx4, 1Mx4, 1Mx1, 4Mx1, 4Mx4, 16Mx1, 1Mx16, 8Mx8, 16Mx4 and 2Mx8.

The SIM II SOJ Adapter is conveniently installed in the 90-pin expansion slot, and is automatically recognized by SIMCHECK II.
